Here we are only 54 days till Barack Obama is sworn into office. I am asking for all people that want change and are bible believing Christian’s in Jesus Christ to pray.
There is a web-site www.change.gov and I went on it and sent a message it is Barack’s web-site I urge everyone to do the same. We have to make a change and now it is time. We all even as Christians may not agree and we will not, but we have to do what God has commanded and that is PRAY. I again will do my best to stick to my commitment of four years to draw people of faith together for prayer.
This not a small task but a needed one. Let’s give the Lord some prayers to see that we are not just superficial PEW POTATOES or his FROZEN CHOSEN. Let our father in heaven see that we are on fire and not lukewarm. I think we all know what He does with those who are lukewarm. Please seek out your passion and your talents and use them for the kingdom work, never forgetting that the Lord is still on the throne.
I encourage all who read this to first get on your knees and ask your savior to forgive you of your hidden sins. This hits me because I have to put my money where my mouth is. God will heal our land IF we humble ourselves and tell him we are wrong and come to Him on His terms. NO MORE EXCUSES!
The great evangelist D.L. Moody was told as a young man “The world has YET to SEE what the Lord WILL DO with a man or woman that is FULLY CONCECRATED to HIM (JESUS)
Please no matter how you do it just pray and lets all try to find our part in how to make our country a better place to live. The main goal I see is to bring back a standard of what is right and wrong. It cannot be just abstract thoughts in the wind blowing where ever it wants. That is what has been going on for quite some time now.
THE CHANGE STARTS WITH YOU!
Thank you again and I hope this letter finds all who read it well,
Shawn Thornton

As I have had more time now to really meditate upon our new world and the incoming administration it concerns me. I know that people today are afraid to call things for what they are. I am a young man only thirty-six. I remember back twenty-five years ago when the issues we are dealing with today were not at the forefront of the news. I have a four and five years old and frankly scared for what kind of world is going to be left for them if I do not stand up for Jesus Christ. I do not care what is said about the post-Christian world we live in. when you look at the history of the bible it seems each age was post-Christian. As I have already written about the prayer for our new President we need to pray for our young children. The moral landscape is in a horrible mess. To all bible believing people of God remember we still live in a free country and have the LEGAL RIGHT to EXPRESS our strongly held beliefs in God. The word of God says, “Satan is like a roaring lion seeking those whom he will devour.” So I say, ” do not let these people that do not like good morals shut you up.” It is high time we wake up and follow God and obey his word.
I pray Lord,
that all who name you as Lord and savior to stand strong for their families, children and for your word. Give us all the strength to live the way you want us to and set aside the excuses we have made you so many years. Thank you we still live in a country that we are free. Help us all not to be hypocritical in all our actions. In Jesus name I pray AMEN.
My hope is Jesus will bless your day.

I have set up a web-site for what I think us as Christians are commanded to do. I hope it can be a place to bring everyone in the faith together. We have to become relevant in this country again. I believe we have taken a lot of heavy hit over the last 20 plus years. This is the time for us to show are “ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN OUR WORDS.” So please pray about how you can get involved more in our country. If my website is not the place for you to get involved, that is ok. God is looking for people who will stand up for Jesus Christ.
Please I implore you to get involved PRAY, PRAY, and PRAY some more.

The Power of Prayer 2 Chronicles 20:1-15
In Scripture, we find examples of people who prayed with spiritual authority. Elijah boldly challenged the prophets of the false god Baal because he knew the Lord would hear and answer. King Jehoshaphat heard that a great army was coming against Israel, so he sought God for direction and strength–and called upon the nation to do the same.
These examples can teach us important lessons about praying powerfully:
Dependence on God. The petitions of both men showed their deep reliance upon the Lord. Knowing that victory over Israel’s enemies was beyond their own abilities, they asked the Lord to intervene.
A Focus on His plan. The prophet did things God’s way against tremendous odds and at great personal risk (1 Kings 19:1-2). The king called for the nation to fast as he sought to discover the Lord’s strategy.
Purity of motive. Both leaders had God-centered intentions with a goal of furthering His purposes. They were not trying to gain anything for themselves.
Confidence in the Lord’s faithfulness. Neither man hesitated to ask publicly for divine help. Elijah told the plan to the 450 enemy prophets, and Jehoshaphat called upon all of Israel to join him in prayer.
If your prayers seem to be having little impact, ask yourself, Have I been relying upon my own strength to resolve matters? Is there a selfish basis for my request? Am I lacking confidence in God (James 1:5-7)? If so, turn to God, confess, and seek to follow the example of the prophet and the king.

I wanted to write that I have started a new blog site. It is going to be devoted to praying for our new President Obama. I am calling all who call themselves Christians to do as we are commanded by God in the book of Romans. The web address is www.nationalobamaprayer.org. I will be finding ways to encourage people and getting information about the progress of our new president. As always comments are welcomed and any help will be appreciated. We have to as the body of Christ come together and not be LUKEWARM anymore. Thank you for your time in reading this and tell your friends.
Rom 13:1-7
Everyone must submit to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist are instituted by God. 2 So then, the one who resists the authority is opposing God’s command, and those who oppose it will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do good and you will have its approval. 4 For government is God’s servant to you for good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, because it does not carry the sword for no reason. For government is God’s servant, an avenger that brings wrath on the one who does wrong. 5 Therefore, you must submit, not only because of wrath, but also because of your conscience. 6 And for this reason you pay taxes, since the authorities are God’s public servants, continually attending to these tasks. 7 Pay your obligations to everyone: taxes to those you owe taxes, tolls to those you owe tolls, respect to those you owe respect, and honor to those you owe honor.

PRAYER
I pray Lord that you will take hold of each one of us that claims to be a devoted follower of you to do our part. That we will stop making the excuses we all know we make. Your word says Judgment has to come in the house of God first. We acknowledge our weaknesses that we cannot do anything apart from you. You have said, “I will build my church!” Help us to see every opportunity to get in to the good fight that you have prepared before the foundation of the earth. Lord put urgency in all of your children’s hearts to do the hard work of knowing you and your will. Forgive us Lord all for being LUKEWARM and sitting in our holy huddles while the world is dying in their sins and we have the answers to restore them to you. Thanks you that even today we still have FREE SPEECH and can worship without fear of death yet. Help the USA become that city on hill a beacon of light once again. In Jesus Christ name Amen.
May each one who reads this take to heart God word and ask Him to show you where your place is to work for him. God Bless each one who calls on the name of Christ for Salvation.
Please we need to do as God has commanded and really step out to show people the truth.
Thank you,
Shawn Thornton
